Academic conference in Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin " Religions as guarantor of peaceful coexistence"

On Dec.22, by the initiative of Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) from Iran in collaboration with the Embassy of the I.R. of Iran in Armenia an academic conference was held in the conference hall of Mother see with the topic of:

“Religions as guarantor of peaceful coexistence”

The conference started by the blessing and welcoming remarks of Catholicos of All Armenians His Holiness Karekin II, conveyed by Archbishop Natan Hovhanissyan, Head of department of foreign relations and protocols of Mother See. Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the I. R. of Iran to the R. of Armenia had his opening remarks on the occasion as well.

The conference was held in two rounds during one day where the lecturer delivered lectures on the topic, stressing the importance of inter-religious dialogues for peaceful coexistence, the role of Armenians in socio-cultural life in Iran, the role of the Armenian Apostolic Church in the Middle East.

Bargev Barseghyan (Head of dept. of Theology of Yerevan State University/YSU)

Ms.Fariba Alasvand (Academic member in the Family and Women Research Center)

Vardan Voskanyan (Head of the dept. of Iranian Studies in YSU)

Ms. Ensiye Ghanazadeh (Head of the dept. of Inter-religious Dialogue in ICRO

-The lecturers in the second round were:

Dr. Seyyed Monzar Hakim (President of The World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought)

Varoujan Geghamyan (professor of the faculty of the Oriental Studies in YSU)

Dr. Javad Jafari (Head of Zanjan theological Seminary)

Shahe vartapet Ananyan (Head of Gevorkian theological seminary and Vaskenian theological Academy)

The conference ended by issuing a joint statement.
